Leopards are the most elusive of the big cats and they are my favourite animal to photograph. Leopard sightings in national parks are few and far between. Finding a leopard in a national park is mostly a matter of luck. In private reserves your chances of finding a leopard are much better. At private reserves the guide and tracker know how to read the signs and spoor of leopards and, and this is the best part, they are allowed to drive off-road. Some of the private lodges even have daily leopard sightings. I travel to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa at least once a year for the sole purpose of photographing leopards. Most of the leopard photographs on this website were made in the Sabi Sand. My favourite lodge in the Sabi Sand is Elephant Plains Game Lodge where daily leopard sightings are almost guaranteed.
